Landless Tee
Landless Tee
With nowhere to birth pups, monk seals are landless.
The Hawaiian Monk seal is a critically endangered species of seal native to the Hawaiian Islands. After carrying their young for 10-11 months, the Hawaiian Monk seals take to the land to birth their pups. These beaches are necessary for the birthing process and the survival of the species. With water inching higher and higher, the Hawaiian Monk seals terrestrial habitat and nursing beaches are being threatened. Three major nursing sights have been submerged causing the seals to nurse on less protected beaches meaning a higher chance for shark attacks.
